I am happy with this boot. At the $200 area, you get a resoleable, composite toe that looks awesome, is sturdy, and doesn’t bite my toes or ankles. The leather feels thick and sturdy, yet soft to wear. I get a little bit of heel abrasion but a heel pad added fixed this no problem. Highly recommend if you’re not ready for the $400 range of boots but want these features and construction quality.so the only thing I found sub par on this boots was the fact that the tongue was a sewn on crooked.on the right boot it is a bit cockeyed. other than that i love the amount of toe room, the insole is very comfortable, and I like the 8 inch height of them. I have only worn them in the house so far breaking them in. would recommend them.I like the wide width, if I need to wear thick socks during the winter.This is an early review of these boots as I've only been wearing them for work less than a month. I will continue to update as time goes by.I have been working in signal maintenance for a railroad for over ten years so far and I have been wearing Red Wing logger boots during that stretch with each pair costing around $300 per pair, but each pair lasting me over four years of constant beatings that most footwear would not be able to withstand.So in the autumn of 2021 I needed to purchase a new pair of boots, but I was told that Red Wings wouldn't be available for several months and would need to be special ordered. That news left me looking for a more immediate option.I had heard of Thorogood from several coworkers who had them previously and spoke highly of them, so once I found a pair that I liked and thought would do the job, I ordered them.When the boots arrived, I noticed that they were very well constructed and the leather appeared very soft but durable. I began wearing them a couple of hours at a time to break them in but found that they were already comfortable right out of the box.After a couple of weeks, I began wearing them to work on the railroad. Without ever adding any extra insoles, I find the boots to be extremely comfortable all day long and my feet don't hurt a bit at the end of the day. The soles are soft enough that they don't get slick when they get cold or make you twist your ankle while walking on uneven surfaces but seem like they are going to be durable under the harsh conditions of walking on railroad ballast.I like that the boots are American made and that they have a seemingly easy system in place for resoleing and repair once you have registered your purchase with them.So far, with only about a month of wearing them, I would recommend these boots for all of the reasons stated above, but I will give updates on these boots further as I continue to add miles to them to see if that opinion changes.If you have to have a safety toe boot. At least this one let's you not feel it. I can wiggle my toes.Had them for a month. Want to love these American made boots but just can't. I'm an Ohio Contractor. So far This winter I've almost put them through all four seasons. Leather is nice. Would greatly appreciate some kind of toe protection. After a month of working in snow and mud the toes took a beating. The insoles leave a lot to be desired. I'll swap them out next. The fit is nice. I like the empire toe. With my wide toes it's appreciated. One thing I will complain about is a complete lack of traction. The soles are definitely made for someone on concrete or asphalt all day. Not frozen/thawing mud or icey/snow. Like I said in the beginning I Want to love these boots and support one of the few American boot companies out there. But for the price and knowing that I'll have to buy another pair in 6 months it's too hard to justify two to three times the cost of my Rock Roosters for boots that aren't 12 hour comfortable.I wore Redwings for years and since they have been making them overseas they haven’t been the same for me. I tried these and it’s like a whole new world at work. I’m a lineman and these boots are comfortable, durable, good for those 12 hour days and support me perfectly! I highly recommend!A lot of room for toes to move even with wide feet
