This boot design was based off of French Army boots, and was copied by the Viet Cong (now the Vietnamese army) who issued near-identical versions to their soldiers for 40 years up to today. This should give you an idea of how good these shoe/boots are. I wore mine through jungles, forests, rivers and sand without any problem. While it doesn't have drain holes, the boots dried out fast when I used them; a godsend in nastier conditions. Lighter weight than many other hiking-oriented boots, and has terrific traction and ankle support, not to mention how comfortable they are; I experienced no rubbing or abrasions of any kind despite wearing them constantly and in rough terrain. Be warned that heavy abuse can damage them somewhat; the heels on mine have torn slightly but this can be repaired easily by hand if you're used to repairing clothes. Highly recommend them for warm/hot climates, do not recommend for cold ones (no insulation, can't dry out if wet & cold, etc).This was my 6th pair of Palladium boots of 3 different materials. The canvas boots have no equal in comfort for casual shoes(well,maybe ecco shoes are more comfortable but not in this price range or material). This boot was comfortable right out of the box. I was wondering about this type of leather boot being as comfortable as the canvas. It is but in a different way that is equally comfortable. And,to be honest, canvas just doesn't work during winter in Cleveland. So they are comfortable,warm, and my feet are dry. I wear a relatively narrow size 13 shoe. They look narrow on my feet and fit well. I don't know if these would work for someone with wide feet.In any case, these fit well, look good, and are keeping my feet warm in 8 degree weather. A good purchase.First set of Palladium shoes and all I can say is they will not be my last.I've used these shoes to wear to work all day long, I've worn them to drive over 8+ hours in one go, hiked on mountains and just worn them for an evening out with friends. They are very versatile, comfortable and go great with a nice pair of jeans.If you're looking for a comfortable shoe that looks great, look no further. The price is decent too so it doesnt hurt your pocket all too much.Love love love!Only had them a few days but they are great so far. Wore for a few hours at first then jumped right into a full day of yard work. My somewhat narrow comment is probably good as I suspect they will stretch a bit. Arch support seems normal. Bought these for summer yard/outdoor work but my adult son tells me these are the newest fashion thing. Really?? 4 stars only because they are so new.I've never owned boots from Palladium before, but I didn't expect them to feel like boots. I didn't really take them seriously and I was more interested in the style. I expected more of a tougher-looking pair of chucks, and I was ok with that. Well, I was wrong. They are sturdy, rugged, well-made boots. I would feel secure doing boot-like activities with these. Not to mention, they're pretty comfortable for what they are, and they fit well. And I like the way they look.I'm fairly happy with these shoes. They're a good option for people who don't want to wear dead animals on their feet. They won't be waterproof, or even water-resistant at all unless you treat them with something.They seem well-made, but have a couple problems:1. There are logos and branding all over them. This is very lame. Only some of them can be cut off.2. Laces are too short reach all of the eyelets.Not really a problem: The photos didn't clearly show how much of the toe is covered by rubber... .it's quite a lot.I've been wearing since the 80's then they went away for several years and now there back...I love them!These are really comfortable. Depending on who makes shoes, I get a 13 or a 14. I had to return the 13s and get these in a 14 and they feel great. These also make a pretty good boot if you like to do North VietNamese Army re-enacting. The sole and top wrap could use some darkening blackout, but otherwise make for good re-enacting boots for those with huge white guy feet.Palladium Boots are tough and absolutely comfortable, so can wear all day with no issues . Being fabric upper makes them super flexible with no downward pressure on the upper foot. Having said that, all would be purchasers should be aware of the obvious fact that the upper surface being fabric is not waterproof , however I wear mine all year without issues. I normally have black and decided to buy these as they were less than half price. Colour is like a dusty powder blue , but still look great with faded jeans ! Colour may not be everyone's choice, but so comfy.I used to have some canvas desert boots which were almost the most comfortable boots I have ever owned - certainly excellent value. But they don't last forever.So I was really pleased to find these on amazon. More expensive than you would purchase similar boots in an army surplus store, but well made and comfy. Lots of colours to chose from (which you definitely don't get in an army surplus store !).Look forward to wearing them quite a lot from now on.Second pair of Palladium boots and, as always, they are great straight out of the box.Already done two rain/snow-lashed hikes in them and they are so warm, waterproof and comfortable. No breaking-in required at all, which is more than you can say for 99% of other boots.I actually saw Emily blunt wearing these in sicario. Instantly loved them so did a search and found them on here. Great looking boot and i love the olive/green colour. Also they have a very sturdy sole.These went back. They are too small. I always take 9, but these wear not good enough as too tight. They look ok as they are a bit laid back and different, but probably not worth anything near the full price which is a shame as the design is cool. Not the best material - a bit cheap looking in my opinion.
